The important work of upgrading the Lôn Las Menai path between Caernarfon and Felinheli will be completed soon, and with the weather improving, it's a good time to travel on a bike.

The Lôn Las was recently closed to the public as the Council carried out work to resurface the path and to repair two wooden bridges near Plas Brereton. Support was given to this project by the Assembly Government and the North Wales Trunk Road Agency.

Mark Balaam, Gwynedd Council's Senior Countryside Warden said:

The Council would like to thank everyone who uses the Lôn Las for their patient and for the support received throughout the work.

A group of pupils from Syr Hugh Owen, Caernarfon were among the first ones to use this important local resource by travelling to school on a bike.

Trystan Gwilym, Gwynedd Council's Active Young Peoples Officer said:

Bike journeys to and from school have been organized as part of a new scheme with local schools.

This venture is a part of the 5x60 plan funded by the Assembly Government to give pupils the opportunity to participate in physical activities outside school hours.

With the support of staff, journeys will be organized frequently from y Felinheli and from Llanwnda along the car free Lôn Las paths.
